Haras D'Elle
In the 1960s, Alexis and Madeleine Pignolet founded the Haras d’Elle with two mares, Gazelle and Ira. Alexis favors the maternal line and develops his passion forbreeding and genetics by selecting and testing his best mares in competition. He is also a pioneer in creating the first private equine embryo transfer center.
Alexis went on to become a key figure in French breeding, building its reputation with Alain Navet, Fernand Leredde and Jean Brohier.
Today, Madeleine and Alexis’ three sons run the renowned family farm, perpetuating the values and know-how they have inherited. They focus on crossbreeding and Norman stock, while promoting the well-being of the stud, its progress and the development of its best horses towards the highest competitions.
The Haras d’Elle is organized into three main areas.

Over the years, the Haras d’Elle has acquired worldwide renown, producing a number of crack horses that have carried the Norman breeding flag high. Thanks to its products, the “d’Elle” affix has been present at the biggest events.
